Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a vital role as a Special Education Teacher, making a difference for students and supporting growth in a collaborative school environment near Antioch, IL. This full-time, contract opportunity for the 2026/2027 school year centers around dedicated instruction and individualized supports, all while navigating the rewarding challenges of special education. Your work will focus on designing, developing, and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) that adhere to both IDEA and Illinois state guidelines. Strong communication is essential—you'll collaborate frequently with parents, colleagues, and administrative teams to ensure each student's success and well-being.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree is required Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement is necessary Previous classroom experience is preferred, with a solid foundation in special education Well-versed in current instructional methodologies, educational strategies, and best practices Deep understanding of child development theories and their application in the classroom Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
