Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Empower young learners to achieve their full potential as a Special Education Teacher, working with a diverse group of 5th-grade students in a dynamic elementary school setting. In this contract role, you will deliver cross-categorical instructional programming designed to support a wide variety of academic, behavioral, communication, adaptive, and functional needs. Instruction is carefully aligned with both grade-level standards and each student's individualized education program (IEP) goals, ensuring every child receives the supportive, differentiated teaching they need to grow.
Skills & Experience Sought:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification Experience or training in implementing individualized IEPs for students with diverse needs Strong foundation in adapting instruction for academic, behavioral, and communication differences Knowledge of structured teaching methods, visual aids, sensory supports, and social-emotional interventions Collaborative approach to working with classroom aides, 1:1 staff, and related service providers Compassionate, patient, flexible, and creative educator
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver lessons tailored to a cross-categorical group of 5th-grade students Continuously monitor, document, and adjust instruction based on student progress and IEP goals Utilize structured activities, visual schedules, behavioral supports, and adaptive materials Implement targeted interventions to foster communication, social, and academic skills Work closely with support staff and service providers to ensure holistic, individualized care Promote an inclusive, positive, and engaging classroom environment for all learners This opportunity allows you to make a genuine difference and collaborate with a dedicated team of professionals committed to student success.
