Special Education Teacher in Bellwood, IL BlazerJobs - 3.4 Bellwood, IL Job Details Contract $33.05 - $53.05 an hour 23 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Qualifications Teaching Certification Full Job Description Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Make a daily difference as a Special Education Teacher in an elementary setting, working closely with a diverse group of first and second-grade students. In this contract role, you'll implement cross-categorical instructional programming designed to meet academic, behavioral, communication, adaptive, and functional skills for each child. With a focus on inclusive learning, you'll provide specialized support to a higher population of students identified with autism, using a wide array of teaching strategies and positive behavioral interventions. Your classroom will be well-supported with a dedicated program aide and, as needed, additional 1:1 support staff, enabling you to focus on meaningful, individualized instruction as aligned with grade-level curriculum and each student's IEP goals. Collaborate with related service providers each day, integrating visual, sensory, and communication supports into your teaching to promote student success and engagement.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Professional Educator License (PEL) with Special Education endorsement (or eligible) Previous experience in an elementary special education setting, preferably grades 1-2 Skilled in developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs Familiarity with autism supports and cross-categorical programming Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction to meet individual student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver specialized instruction aligned with grade-level standards and IEP requirements Utilize structured teaching, visual and sensory supports, and behavioral interventions Partner with aides and related service providers throughout the school day Monitor student progress toward IEP goals and document ongoing data Foster a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment This opportunity allows you to make a tangible impact while working alongside dedicated professionals in an enriching environment.
