We're partnering with a school district in Cook County, IL to hire a dedicated Special Education Teacher (DLP Classroom) - ESY for Summer 2026 ESY This role supports a Developmental Learning Program (DLP) classroom serving students with significant support needs and an alternative curriculum. The classroom is slated to be K/1 with approximately 9 students, supported by 3 paraprofessionals and related service providers.

ESY Responsibilities:

Provide specialized instruction using an alternative curriculum aligned to student IEP goals. Lead a DLP classroom for students with high support needs, ensuring a safe, structured learning environment. Develop, implement, and document IEPs, progress monitoring, and required compliance documentation. Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals (3 in-room), related service providers, and school team members. Implement accommodations/modifications and effective behavior/learning supports as needed. Maintain consistent communication with families and the school team regarding student progress and needs.

Qualifications:

Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Special Education endorsement (required). Experience supporting students with significant needs (DLP/life skills/intensive programs strongly preferred). Familiarity with alternative curriculum and IEP-driven instruction. Ability to collaborate and effectively direct/support paraprofessional staff. Strong communication, documentation, and organization skills.
