Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Exciting opportunity for an experienced Special Education Teacher to work on-site with kindergarten through second-grade students in a self-contained, cross-categorical classroom. This contractual assignment begins in August to coincide with the new school year, offering a supportive educational environment where you can make a significant impact.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching credentials (LBS1 certification required) Active Illinois Educator Identification Number (IEIN) must be provided at submission Previous experience working with elementary or cross-categorical caseloads preferred Strong communication and collaboration skills Adaptability and passion for fostering inclusive learning environments
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to students with diverse learning needs in grades K-2 Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in partnership with multidisciplinary teams Maintain regular communication with families and staff about student progress and strategies Foster a supportive, structured, and inclusive classroom setting Participate in team meetings, professional development, and compliance tasks as required Collect and document data to monitor academic and behavioral goals This assignment features a consistent weekly schedule with 33.75 on-site hours, allowing you to build meaningful connections with your students and colleagues. You'll work closely with support professionals to create an environment where every child can thrive.
