The program incorporates best practices and effective teaching strategies to address their immediate learning barriers and develop skills and discipline to become lifelong learners and achievers. Position - Teacher We are looking for a part-time certified elementary teacher to bring inspiration, best practices, new techniques, and a cooperative spirit to the Saturday Place classroom and teaching team. The program is designed around subject matter "centers" where teaching teams collaboratively develop curriculum. Our teachers work on an A and B schedule, alternating Saturdays during the school year. Scope of Responsibilities Collaborate with center co-teacher to develop rigorous lessons and assessments Efficiently grade student assessments to enable timely analysis and evaluation. Plan and set up academic rotations before students arrive to achieve maximum instructional time Support and enforce policies, procedures, and expectations for positive behavior and maintaining order among the students Foster and model positive interactions among students during recess, lunch, small groups, and one-on-one experiences Commit to no more than three (3) absences per program year and plan coverage by center co-teacher(s) as needed to avoid absences Attend and participate in quarterly meetings Contribute to the program's overall growth and performance by offering innovative ideas, resource identification, and bringing a spirit of collaboration Available to attend the Professional Development Day in late July or early August of each program year. Candidates must be able to drive to both partner schools to ride the school bus with the students. •Schedule is provided ahead of time. Responsible for communicating and responding. The ideal candidate must demonstrate flexibility and adaptability. S/he possesses to be organized and have the ability to work collaboratively with, motivate and inspire his/her students, team members, and constituents of diverse backgrounds. Teachers will have the opportunity to strengthen their instructional and leadership skills with support from CPS, administrators, and teacher leaders. They will also receive training in reading intervention programs such as UFLI and Wilson.
