Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role in special education supporting high school learners for the 2026/2027 school year. This full-time, onsite opportunity is designed for an educator who is passionate about empowering students with diverse needs and thrives in both self-contained and co-taught classroom settings. You'll become an essential member of an established, supportive school team, working collaboratively to help students achieve their academic and personal goals.
Qualifications:
Valid Illinois LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) License is required Experience working with high school students is preferred Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing IEPs Ability to work well in partnership with both special and general education staff Strong communication and organizational skills
What You'll Do:
Provide special education support in a self-contained classroom with approximately 7-9 students Collaborate and co-teach with general education staff, supporting an additional 7-9 students during designated periods Deliver targeted instruction in English Language Arts and Mathematics, while supporting Social Studies and Science coursework Develop, track, and monitor IEP goals, accommodations, and student progress Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages student growth and engagement Partner with families, school administrators, and multidisciplinary professionals Engage in ongoing teamwork with a fellow Special Education Teacher to ensure consistent student support and program excellence This role provides the chance to make a lasting impact in a welcoming high school community, enjoy daily collaboration, and contribute to the academic success of students with unique learning needs.
