Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a lasting impact in the lives of high school students as a Special Education Teacher during the 26/27 school year. This full-time, contract position offers you the opportunity to support a manageable caseload of 10-15 learners, teaching both inclusion and resource classes and playing an integral role in their academic and personal growth.

Key Qualifications:

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate Special Education endorsements Experience or strong interest in working with high school students in a special education setting Ability to manage caseload responsibilities, including writing IEPs, progress monitoring, and required documentation Commitment to collaboration, communication, and ongoing professional development

Role Responsibilities:

Teach 3 inclusion classes and 2 resource classes, providing differentiated instruction and support Maintain and manage your own caseload, overseeing IEP development, documentation, and progress reporting Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings, ensuring student needs are met and goals are tracked Utilize designated preparation periods and enjoy a duty-free lunch each school day Collaborate with a Special Education Case Manager, who will oversee compliance and offer departmental guidance and support
