Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract A full-time position is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired for the 2026-2027 school year in Georgetown, IL. This role requires an on-site educator dedicated to supporting students with visual impairments across the district. The position is itinerant, so travel between schools within the district will be an essential part of the daily routine. Responsibilities include assessing students' visual needs, developing and implementing individualized educational plans, and collaborating with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion. The teacher will provide hands-on instruction in literacy, use of assistive technology, and orientation and mobility skills tailored to visually impaired students.
Ideal candidates will have:
Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired Experience working with visually impaired students in K-12 settings Strong communication and collaboration skills The ability and willingness to travel throughout the district daily A commitment to in-person instructional delivery (virtual teaching is currently not desired) This role is a contract position for the full school year and offers a meaningful opportunity to impact students' academic and personal development while working directly with families and educators.
