For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Description:
Anticipated Special Education Teacher (LBS1) for Instructional Life Skills opening for the 2026-27 school year.
Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate instructional supports and experiences to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth as aligned in the District's Strategic Plan. This collaborative, multi-faceted role includes: Planning for instruction and assessment on an individual and program basis. Planning with colleagues at the building and district level to promote student learning and the success of all learners.

Qualifications:
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with one of the following: LBS1 endorsement (PreK-Age 21) endorsement Early Childhood Special Education endorsement or approval Previous experience and passion for working with students with complex needs preferred Previous experience with Comprehensive Literacy for All Framework preferred Previous experience with Integrated Assistive Technology preferred Previous experienced with Structured Teaching preferred
Working Conditions:
Full-time (1.0 FTE), 10-month position starting August 2026 through early June 2027. Certified Staff work 185 days per school year. At times, perform the physically demanding job functions, strength and/or endurance for lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling are occasionally required.
