The listed salary of $54,000 is the entry-level rate for candidates without prior experience. Applicants with related experience and/or a master's degree will be eligible for higher starting pay. Employees are paid for all scheduled school closure days, including holidays and breaks. Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team. First year teachers are encouraged to apply, and the ideal candidate will possess a strong background in special education, early childhood development, and classroom management. This role involves designing individualized instructional plans, supporting students with diverse needs—including autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities—and collaborating closely with families and multidisciplinary teams to foster an inclusive learning environment.. Duties Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs, ensuring compliance with special education law. Design engaging lesson plans that incorporate curriculum development, literacy education, math instruction, and educational technology integration. Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management strategies and behavioral therapy techniques suitable for students with disabilities. Collaborate regularly with speech therapists, occupational therapists BCBA, and other professionals to support student progress. Utilize instructional modifications and accommodations to meet diverse learning styles and developmental levels. Conduct assessments using standardized testing methods to monitor student progress and inform instructional adjustments. Maintain clear communication with parents and guardians regarding student development, progress reports, and IEP updates. Qualifications Proven experience working with children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders. Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, early intervention strategies, and special education laws. Demonstrated expertise in classroom management, behavior management for students with special needs, and curriculum development. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities across various settings such as preschool or elementary school environments. Proficiency in educational technology tools used for lesson planning and instructional delivery. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, families, and support staff. Background in speech therapy or behavioral health is a plus; certification in special education is preferred.
