Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting middle school students in an Intensive Communications Program within a collaborative, specialized setting. This full-time contract role (35 hours per week) spans from August 14th through November 1st, with the potential for extension. The classroom focuses on individuals with Autism and Intellectual Disability, serving a group of nine students who thrive on a life skills-centered curriculum. Two dedicated paraprofessionals support daily classroom activities and foster a positive learning environment.
Key Qualifications:
Active LBS1 endorsement and Professional Educator License (PEL) required Experience working with students in autism or functional skills programs highly preferred Familiarity with functional and life skills curriculum, including Unique Learning Effective in a team-based setting, collaborating with paraprofessionals and specialists Capable of adapting instruction to meet individual student needs Strong communication skills with a commitment to individualized education plans Please attach a screenshot of your license by adding a blank page to the end of your resume.Core Responsibilities:
Instruct and support middle school students focusing on life skills, communication, and independence Integrate curriculum components such as Unique Learning, along with practical skills (cooking, laundry, community field trips) Collaborate with colleagues and paraprofessionals to maintain a supportive, well-structured classroom climate Document student progress, communicate with families, and implement IEP goals Ensure a safe, encouraging environment for all learners This is a chance to make a difference in the lives of students by helping them achieve vital milestones and independence.
