Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Step into an impactful contract role as a dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher/Hearing Itinerant, serving students for the upcoming school year. Located near Schaumburg, IL, this full-time opportunity (37.5 hours per week) offers the chance to work with a dynamic K-12 caseload and make a genuine difference supporting diverse learners. You'll be responsible for delivering specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, providing itinerant services aligned with their individualized needs and weekly instructional minutes. Your expertise will be key to supporting these students' academic progress and inclusion, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with educational best practices.
Qualifications:
Professional Educator License (PEL) from the Illinois State Board of Education with the Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement Experience working with K-12 students in an educational setting Knowledge of hearing assistive technology and accommodations Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families Commitment to individualized instruction and inclusion
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Provide direct and consultative services as their primary DHH teacher Create and adapt resources and lesson plans based on students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Travel between multiple school sites as needed to provide itinerant services Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and participate in IEP meetings Collaborate closely with general education teachers and related service providers Take advantage of a competitive package including insurance, 401k, and a supportive contract environment as you help students reach their full potential.
