POSITION PURPOSE
Guides students with disabilities toward meaningful academic, behavioral, social, and functional growth through high-quality instruction, compliant case management, and collaborative problem-solving. Ensures that each student receives services aligned with their Individualized Education Program (IEP), while championing inclusive practices, equitable access, and student success across all learning environments.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Serve as the Teacher of Record for assigned students and ensure full compliance with IDEA, Article 7, and all district policies. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that include present levels, measurable goals, accommodations, behavior supports, service minutes, and progress-monitoring expectations. Deliver explicit, differentiated instruction using evidence-based practices in reading, writing, mathematics, executive functioning, and social-emotional learning. Provide instruction and support within general education, small-group, and specialized settings based on student needs and service delivery models. Collect, analyze, and report progress-monitoring data; maintaining accurate records required for IEP implementation and legal compliance. Collaborate closely with general education teachers to ensure appropriate accommodations, modifications, co-teaching practices, and shared responsibility for student outcomes. Partner with related services providers, administrators, and families to design cohesive, student-centered plans. Implement classroom and individual behavior-support strategies aligned with functional behavioral assessments (FBA) and behavior intervention plans (BIP) recommendations. Participate in and help lead case conferences, ensuring clear communication, documentation accuracy, and procedural compliance. Support paraprofessionals through modeling, coaching, and clarity of expectations regarding instructional and behavioral strategies. Maintain a safe, predictable, and supportive learning environment that nurtures independence, resilience, and engagement. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and compliance training as required. Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Indiana teaching license in Special Education (e.g.Exceptional Needs:
Mild Interventions, Exceptional Needs:
Intense Intervention, Any Exceptional Needs Licensing covering PK-12). Demonstrated knowledge of IDEA, Article 7, IEP development, instructional design, and behavioral support frameworks. Strong communication skills, collaboration skills, and organizational skills. CPR/AED certification and completion of required state mandated trainings.Preferred:
completion of the Science of Reading training necessary for educators licensed in Special Education.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
