Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students' academic and personal growth in a dynamic school environment. Dedicated Special Education Teachers are needed to work full-time during the 2026-2027 academic year at two supportive campus settings: a middle school in Emporia and a high school in Allen. This onsite role offers the chance to create meaningful impact with a diverse student population in a collaborative and inclusive community.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid Kansas Special Education teaching license (required) Prior experience as a Special Education Teacher in school-based settings strongly preferred Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with students, families, and educational teams Flexibility to work effectively across middle and high school environments Commitment to providing individualized educational plans and differentiated instruction
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Adapt and modify curriculum to meet diverse learning needs Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and specialists to support student success Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and services provided Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding educational goals and student progress Enjoy the benefits of being part of a contract team—gain experience at both middle and high school levels and develop your professional skills alongside a supportive staff.
