Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting students with special needs in a vibrant and inclusive school district near Olathe, KS. Contract opportunities are open for dedicated Special Education Teachers eager to make a difference for the 2026-2027 school year, with positions available at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, as well as specialized alternative programs for students with significant behavioral needs. Whether your passion is working with younger learners or challenging and inspiring adolescents, you will play a key role in fostering student growth and academic achievement.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Active Kansas teaching license in Special Education appropriate for assigned grade level required prior to placement Experience working with K-12 students, various ability levels, and IEP management strongly preferred Adaptable, compassionate, and collaborative approach to diverse classroom settings Experience with alternative programs and students with severe behaviors (for Bridges/alternative roles) Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Role Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Provide direct instruction and differentiated support to meet a variety of learning styles and needs Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote a consistent, supportive environment Utilize behavioral strategies and interventions, especially in Bridges/alternative roles Keep accurate records and maintain compliance with state and federal regulations Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment Enjoy working in a professional community committed to equity and student success across all grade levels.
