Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year, supporting students across K-12 in a welcoming school community near Overland Park, KS. Multiple vacancies are available for dedicated educators eager to make an impact, including positions at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, as well as within an innovative alternative program serving students with severe behaviors. You'll have the chance to work collaboratively with an experienced team, receive support within the classroom, and help shape positive outcomes for exceptional learners. Assignments are available across various school settings, offering flexibility and diverse teaching experiences.
Qualifications:
Possess active Kansas Special Education teaching licensure, appropriate for assigned grade levels Ability to provide proof of licensure prior to district placement Experience working in special education (preferred) Strong classroom management skills and understanding of diverse learning needs Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational abilities
Position Details:
Contract spans August 2026 through May 2027 21 special education teaching roles available:
Elementary:
10 positions
Middle School:
5 positions
High School:
4 positions Bridges (alternative program with severe behaviors): 2 positions covering all grades Opportunities to specialize based on your strengths and interests
