Job Description

Category Schools - Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding educational role supporting students from PreK through 12th grade as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher. This contract opportunity focuses on cultivating an inclusive learning environment for children with hearing impairments in a school setting. The assignment runs from August 10, 2026, to May 24, 2027, with flexible weekly hours ranging from 30 to 40.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
Current certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, particularly in a school setting Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a variety of communication strategies for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing population Ability to develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with students, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction to a caseload of 8 students, adapting methods to meet individual needs Create an accessible, engaging classroom atmosphere that promotes student growth, participation, and independence Assess students' progress regularly and adjust interventions as needed Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other support staff Provide training and resources to staff and families to facilitate effective communication and learning Maintain all required documentation and participate in IEP meetings This contract offers a fulfilling opportunity to make a direct impact on students' academic journeys and social-emotional development, bridging gaps and fostering a sense of belonging for every learner.
