A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Organization Details Organization Information The Bell County School District is one out of twenty two school districts in the entire state that met the 2011 NCLB targets in reading and math. Elementary students in Bell County scoring proficient or distinguished in math, reading and science exceeded the state average. Middle grades students in Bell County exceeded the state average in every content area tested. Finally, the high school students topped the state average significantly in reading and on-demand writing. The overall transition academic index at Yellow Creek and Right Fork exceeded the 2014 goal of 100. The middle grades on-demand scores in 4 Bell County schools placed them in the top 29 schools in the state. Based on the 2011 KCCT scores Bell County is ranked at 76th out of 174 districts in the state. The elementary scores are ranked at 73rd, the middle grades scores are 63rd and the high school scores are 91st in the state.
