Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and valid Louisiana DOE Certification for Visually Impaired. Certification in education for the visually impaired. 3+ years of experience teaching elementary, secondary, or special education. Proficient in assistive technology for visually impaired students. Skilled in Braille instruction. Strong analytic, communication, and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to travel between sites daily and provide own transportation. High professional standards; able to work independently and multitask. Orientation and mobility training experience (preferred). Passing district and agency drug screen and fingerprinting.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct services to visually impaired students in an itinerant capacity. Collaborate with classroom and special education teams. Facilitate IEPs and interpret needs of visually impaired students. Source and adapt specialized materials and resources. Offer in-service training to school staff. Prepare suitable reading materials in the appropriate medium. Communicate with the Louisiana Department of Education and fulfill reporting requirements.
