Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference in the lives of students by providing essential support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. In this contract role, you will empower students with visual impairments to achieve their fullest academic and personal potential. You'll collaborate with faculty and staff to develop individualized strategies and adapt curriculum materials, ensuring every student has access to a quality education.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Previous teaching experience working with students with visual impairments preferred Strong knowledge of Braille and accessible technology resources Exceptional communication and organizational skills Ability to assess student needs and design appropriate interventions Collaborative approach when working with educators, support personnel, and families
Responsibilities:
Provide direct and consultative services to students identified with visual impairments Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in conjunction with the educational team Adapt instructional materials and classroom environments for accessibility Teach students in crucial skills such as Braille, orientation, mobility, and assistive technology use Assess student progress and maintain accurate documentation Serve as a resource for staff and families, offering training and support for best educational practices Stay current on developments in instructional strategies, technologies, and regulations relevant to visual impairment education Gain valuable experience in a supportive school environment while making an impact that lasts a lifetime.
