Desired Qualifications:
Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) Experience working with visually impaired students across a range of ages and abilities Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional materials Strong communication skills to interact compassionately with students, teachers, and families Organizational skills and adaptability in managing diverse caseloads and delivering individualized education plans (IEPs) Enthusiasm for staying current in best practices for visual impairment education and ongoing professional development
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver tailored instruction to students with visual impairments, ensuring IEP goals are met Adapt curriculum materials and teach Braille, orientation and mobility skills, as well as the use of assistive technology Collaborate with classroom teachers, staff, and parents to embed accommodations and foster inclusive learning experiences Assess student progress and promptly adjust instructional strategies to meet evolving needs Advocate for students' access to instructional materials and promote their independence within the school community Participate in IEP meetings, team conferences, and professional learning opportunities This contract role offers the chance to support diverse learners and partner with passionate education professionals in a welcoming and dynamic setting.
