Aug 25, 2026 Job Description Reporting to the Director of Special Education. The Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This includes delivering instruction in both inclusive and small group settings, supporting students' academic and social-emotional development, and ensuring compliance with state and federal special education regulations. The Special Education Teacher collaborates with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create inclusive learning environments that promote student growth, independence, and success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs to ensure students receive appropriate services and supports Provide specialized instruction in individual, small group, and inclusive classroom settings Collect, analyze, and report data on student progress toward IEP goals and objectives Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments to meet diverse learning needs Collaborate with general education teachers to support student access to the curriculum Maintain accurate and compliant student records and documentation Participate in IEP meetings and communicate effectively with families and team members Support students' social-emotional and behavioral needs through appropriate strategies and interventions Provide accommodations and modifications as outlined in students' IEPs Consult with staff regarding student needs and effective instructional practices Conduct or contribute to student assessments as required Ensure a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment Perform other related duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master's Degree with 5 years of experience preferred—high School-related experience, including work in the classroom, in the community, and in the workplace.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
DESE Certified as a Special Education Teacher, High School Level
ABILITY, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs Knowledge of special education laws, procedures, and compliance requirements Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
