Beverly Middle School is looking for a Special Education Teacher - Learning Center. The Special Education Teacher will be expected to teach, plan and grade collaboratively with content teachersEDUCATIONAL TRAINING/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
A Teacher should be DESE certified, have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in the appropriate content area, and hold a valid Massachusetts Teacher Certificate.POSITION SUMMARY
A Teacher creates a plan of instruction and a class environment that is favorable to learning and personal growth; establishes effective rapport with pupils; motivates pupils to develop skills, positive attitudes and knowledge; and establishes good relationships with parents and other staff members.RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Director of Learning Candidate must have experience with the writing of IEP goals and objectives and the ability to collect student data, analyze data and accurately report academic progression on progress reports and within Team Meetings. Candidate will have documented training and use of a variety of assessment tools to support the eligibility process during initial team meetings and 3-year reevaluations. This position further requires training, experience and/or licensure in the area of reading. Candidate must have experience working with students with varying disabilities and the ability to provide instruction in reading, math and written language. Working knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for ELA and Math required, as well as the ability to establish entry points for students. The Candidate will be required to effectively communicate and collaborate with all staff to support the academic needs of the students and ensure implementation of accommodations and/or modifications across the school setting. Candidate must also effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with parents and outside agency providers. Provide direct instruction for students. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences and learning styles. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, and materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of learning styles and needs of students assigned. Manage student behavior to achieve an effective learning environment and in compliance with district and state guidelines. Work collaboratively with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Provide timely and appropriate plans for substitutes as necessary. Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning through formal and informal testing. Persistent belief in the potential for all students to succeed academically with an asset-based mindset Ability to communicate respectfully and in a culturally proficient manner with parents/guardians about student progress and language acquisition Ability to analyze and utilize student data to develop and/or co-create curriculum and instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners.COMPENSATION
Compensation is set in accordance with the Beverly Teachers Association Unit A collective bargaining agreement and is commensurate with experience and education.Position Type:
