What they do
A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Aug 31, 2026 Job Description Educational Support Paraprofessionals provide support for students with identified learning needs in a classroom or learning center setting. Staff members will be expected to monitor student progress, clarify learning expectations, and report back to special education liaisons as requested. Interested candidates should have an enthusiasm for student learning and a positive school environment, and a working understanding of social emotional learning. Other supervisory duties may be assigned during non-instructional time. The duties commonly associated with the position include but are not limited to:- being respectful of learning differences
- ability to maintain confidentiality
- willingness to work alongside teachers to support student learning goals, including social-emotional support
- commitment to professional work ethic
