Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract A school district in Great Barrington, MA is seeking full-time Special Education Teachers to support substantially separate classrooms for students with significant cognitive and physical disabilities. This contract position involves working onsite to provide specialized instruction to students in K-1st grade and 3rd-5th grade classrooms. Responsibilities include managing a caseload of students with severe needs, including those who require toileting assistance and some who are on the autism spectrum and non-verbal. Teachers will collaborate with Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) who provide additional support in some classrooms. Delivering specially designed instruction and implementing applied behavior analysis techniques are highly preferred skills for this role.
Candidate qualifications and experience desired:
Prior experience in Special Education, preferably with a focus on substantially separate classrooms Ability to support students with complex cognitive and physical disabilities Knowledge of specially designed instruction strategies Familiarity with applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles and techniques Comfort providing direct care including toileting support Experience working with students on the autism spectrum, including non-verbal learners Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
