Special Education Teacher in Great Barrington, MA

Job Description

Take on a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher in a contract position located near Great Barrington, MA. This full-time role focuses on providing vital educational support to students with significant cognitive and physical needs in Substantially Separate Classrooms for K-1st grade and 3rd-5th grade students. You will have the chance to positively impact students who require tailored instruction, including those on the autism spectrum and non-verbal learners. Some students will benefit from the additional support of a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).
Essential Qualifications:
Valid teaching license/certification in Special Education Prior experience in Substantially Separate Classrooms or with severe/profound disabilities is highly preferred Solid understanding of specially designed instruction principles Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) experience desired Experience supporting students with toileting and physical needs Comfortable providing instruction to both verbal and non-verbal students Strong collaboration and communication skills with staff, students, and families
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and group instruction to meet diverse learning needs Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each students abilities and goals Collaborate with RBTs and other support staff to foster a positive, productive classroom environment Incorporate ABA strategies and data-driven interventions Support students personal care and physical management needs, including toileting Maintain accurate progress records and participate in IEP meetings Enjoy the benefits of working onsite in a supportive school environment and make a real difference in the lives of students every day.
