To Be Determined Job Description Teacher•Special Education (Language Based) Job Summary The Language-Based Special Education Teacher provides support to the District with student evaluations, report writing and the delivery of individualized, multisensory reading instruction to students with learning differences, particularly those with dyslexia and related language-based disabilities. This role focuses on student evaluations, delivering structured literacy interventions using the Orton-Gillingham or Wilson Rules Based Reading approach to support students in achieving literacy and academic success. Responsibilities Deliver explicit, systematic, and multisensory reading instruction using the Orton-Gillingham or the Wilson methodology Evaluate students across the grade levels suspected of a disability and IEP students who are in the process of initial or three-year evaluation cycle Write evaluation reports, suggest goals, learning objectives for students' found eligible for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Conduct ongoing screenings and other educational assessments to monitor student progress in reading, writing, and phonological skills Develop progress monitoring data protocols for special education students Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs Collaborate with general and other special education teachers, specialists, and families to support student success Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and compliance with state and federal regulations Provide small group and one-on-one instruction tailored to student's individual learning needs Use data-driven decision-making to adjust instructional approaches Support students' social-emotional growth and build confidence in learning Participate in professional development related to structured literacy and special education Other duties as as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's and Master's degree in Special Education or related field Valid state teaching certification in Special Education Training and Associate Level (full certification) in Orton-Gillingham, Wilson and advanced study in Language-Based Disorders by accredited university Experience working with a variety of grade level (s) students with dyslexia or language-based learning disabilities Strong knowledge of the science of reading, language-based disabilities, reading development, phonics, and intervention strategies Excellent communication and collaboration skills Preferred Skills Experience with a variety of student assessment processes Experience with detailed student progress monitoring tools and educational technology Ability to differentiate instruction effectively within a small group setting Strong organizational and time management skills Deep knowledge of IDEA and special education compliance requirements Work Environment/Physical Requirements Public School-based setting, District-wide position May include classroom instruction, pull-out intervention, or inclusion support Regular interaction with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams Ability to sit, stand, and move around the classroom for extended periods Ability to lift instructional materials and assist students as needed Benefits Information Please see this link for information on benefits in the Hingham Public Schools.
