Leominster High School is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher for a permanent position. The position includes co-teaching in academic classes and support classes that teach study skills. The candidate should be familiar with co-teaching strategies, special education testing, writing IEPs, providing accommodations, and instruction in executive functioning skills.RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach academic and executive functioning skill classes. Works in conjunction with other staff to create IEPs; provides input for student reevaluation. Communicate regularly with families of students receiving services. Maintain service delivery log and progress notes; use ongoing assessments to evaluate and report on student progress.QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS MA Special Education certification as Teacher of Students With Moderate Disabilities Demonstrated ability to engage, direct, and teach high school-age students Skilled at setting limits, processing events, and guiding students in behaviors and self-management Knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations, including mandated reporting Experience with IEP-focused service delivery or solution-focused counseling Ability to establish strong relationships with students and parents. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Reading Instruction training is not required but is an advantage. Salary commensurate with related experience.
