Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Empower students and foster independence as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a dynamic school-based environment! A rewarding contract position awaits in the vibrant Lowell, MA area, serving learners who are visually impaired. Flexible full-time or part-time schedules are available, starting September 1st, 2026 and continuing through June 14th, 2027. All instruction and collaboration will be onsite, allowing you to make a direct and meaningful impact every day.
Qualifications:
Active Teacher of the Visually Impaired (VI) License Current Massachusetts DESE educator license Success in passing all relevant MTEL exams Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision is highly desirable Ability to provide individualized support and adapt curriculum for accessibility
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, K-12, across settings Develop, implement, and track individualized education plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams Adapt instructional materials and technology for students' specific needs, including braille, large print, or tactile graphics Support classroom teachers with strategies, accommodations, and training to promote inclusive learning Monitor student progress and regularly communicate updates and recommendations with families and school personnel Conduct assessments to determine the unique needs and learning modalities for each student
