Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make an impact supporting students as a passionate Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a part-time contract role for the 26/27 school year. Serve learners from PreK through age 22, working approximately 16-18 hours per week. This rewarding position is ideal for educators dedicated to fostering communication and inclusive education within the school community.
Qualifications:
Valid Massachusetts teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Experience supporting students ranging from early childhood through transition-aged young adults Strong understanding of various communication modalities, including American Sign Language, oral/aural, or total communication approaches Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Effective collaboration skills for working with school staff, families, and service providers Passion for cultural and linguistic diversity within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community Previous school-based experience preferred
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and support tailored to the individual needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students Adapt curriculum and materials to enhance accessibility and comprehension Collaborate with general educators, therapists, and paraprofessionals to create inclusive learning environments Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings Advocate for student needs and support self-advocacy skills Offer consultation and training for staff and families as appropriate This W-2 hourly contract position offers a unique chance to make meaningful connections while balancing a flexible, part-time schedule.
