O&M Specialist | Methuen, Massachusetts BlazerJobs - 3.4 Methuen, MA Job Details Contract $47.43 - $67.43 an hour 13 hours ago Qualifications School experience Parent communication Working with students Full Job Description Bachelor's or Master's degree in Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1+ years Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Embark on a rewarding contract assignment supporting students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, working with K-12 learners of diverse ages. This opportunity is onsite in a collaborative school environment, where your expertise will help empower students to navigate their physical and educational settings safely and independently.
Key Qualifications:
Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M Specialist) license required Experience working in school settings, preferably across varied age groups (K-12) Adaptable communication style for interdisciplinary teams, students, and families Knowledge of current best practices and safety guidelines in orientation and mobility instruction Ability to create individualized lesson plans and provide engaging, effective training
Responsibilities:
Deliver orientation and mobility instruction to students with visual impairments, supporting their safe and confident movement within the school and community Assess and document students' mobility needs, progress, and goals Collaborate with educational teams, participating in IEP meetings and sharing insights for student success Provide resources and training to staff and families to foster an accessible environment Maintain essential documentation and monitor progress toward student objectives
