Immediately Job Description The E. Ethel Little Elementary School is seeking a long-term substitute Reading Specialist from now tentatively through May 29, 2-26. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential. In this role you will provide regular education reading services to students who require additional support both in the inclusion classroom and in individual pull-out instruction as needed. This position is a 0.8 FTE with an anticipated schedule of full school days, Mondays through Thursdays (28 hours/week). Essential duties Complete reading evaluations and assessments Collaborate with other building educators Create and monitor specialized reading programs for students requiring support in reading and English language arts Participate in regular support team meetings as scheduled Develop progress notes Be available to conference with parents/guardians and families as needed or requested Other duties as requested by the Building Principal and/or Designee Requirements Bachelor's Degree in a related field Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in Elementary, grades 1-6 Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in Reading, All levels Training and experience in specialized reading programs (i.e., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LIPS, Project Read) Working knowledge of Response to Intervention (RTI) strategies and evaluation/assessment Strong interpersonal skills Collaborative working demeanor Excellent oral and written communication skills At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred Citizenship, residency, or work visa required The North Reading Public Schools (NRPS) provides a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where students develop both their social-emotional and academic skills and abilities through an exploration of a wide range of content areas, the arts, athletics, and extra-curricular opportunities.
