Position Description:
Special educator teachers at MLKCSE lead the coordination of special education services in accordance with their students\' IEPs. This includes delivering specialized instruction aligned to students
  • IEP goals.
The special educator works closely with the classroom teacher to ensure accommodations and/or modifications are being implemented.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student\'s IEP, which includes implementation of a combination of pull out and inclusion model services depending on the services required by the student\'s IEP
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to assist with planning and implementation of classroom accommodations
  • Develop Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students to include: present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and the special education and related services required to meet those goals
  • Plan and implement targeted lesson plans according to goals on the IEP.
  • Do baseline testing to determine educational needs and develop a strategic plan to address areas for support
  • Communicate with Special Education Director, Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Psychologist,
  • General Education Teacher and other specialists about student progress
  • Promote and maintain parent/guardian?s involvement through positive family engagement
  • Participate in assigned professional development
  • Participate in all required periodic after school events
  • Other duties as assigned by the
Principal or Special Education Director Required Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s Degree Valid MA teaching certification in Special Education/Moderate Disabilties SEI or RETELL endorsement
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience preferred, particularly in an urban setting Bilingual (Spanish) candidates encouraged to apply
Salary:
\$50k
  • $90k Salary commensurate with education and experience.
