Swampscott Elementary SchoolPosition Narrative:
The Swampscott Public Schools seek a dedicated and compassionate professional to join our special education team at the elementary level. This role is designed for an aspiring behavior professional (currently enrolled in a BCBA or BCaBA program) to provide high-quality, evidence-based behavioral support. We are looking for a professional committed to fostering an inclusive environment while maintaining the safety and dignity of all students through proactive intervention and crisis management. Key ResponsibilitiesDirect Instruction:
Implement individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as designed by the BCBA.Crisis Management & Safety:
Respond to behavioral crises using district-approved de-escalation and physical intervention techniques. Prioritize student safety and the "least restrictive" intervention at all times.Data Collection:
Accurately record and summarize behavioral data during sessions to track the efficacy of intervention plans and inform IEP goals.Skill Acquisition:
Facilitate student development in functional communication, social skills, and emotional regulation within both general education and specialized classrooms.Collaboration:
Maintain a collegial work ethic, participating in multidisciplinary team meetings and providing feedback to the supervising BCBA.Professionalism:
Maintain high behavioral expectations and strictly adhere to the RBT Ethics Code and district confidentiality policies. QualificationsCertification/Education:
• Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification required OR Current enrollment in an accredited BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) or BCaBA (Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst) coursework program.Crisis Training:
Current certification in a recognized crisis management program (Safety-Care, CPI, etc.) is highly preferred; district-provided training will be required upon hire.Experience:
Previous experience implementing behavior protocols with elementary-aged students in a school or clinical setting.Communication:
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to remain calm and professional under high-stress situations.Requirements:
Must pass aCORI/SORI
background check and Fingerprinting.Physical Requirements:
This position may require long periods of standing, walking, and sitting; talking or hearing in person and by telephone; using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reaching with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. The individual may be exposed to ultraviolet lights as are found in computer monitors and copying equipment. The individual may be exposed to various hazards in the building.
