Job Description:
TEC Campus School is a special education day program for students ages 3 through 21, with significant needs, including multiple cognitive and physical disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, communication disorders, and medical challenges. The TEC Campus School offers a warm and caring learning community and provides an environment where students are supported by highly skilled teachers and an integrated team of specialists designed to meet each student's individual needs and maximize student learning across people, places and situations. Our school offers a full-day, small classroom setting that provides medical and behavioral support along with multi-sensory instruction in functional academics, communication and other life skills. Our resource rich classrooms and therapeutic settings are equipped with a range of instructional and assistive technologies. TEC incorporates use of an integrated related services model. We are looking for a Special Education Teacher; based upon IEP goals and objectives, to evaluate and teach students with intensive special needs. In this position, you will work with the Team to implement instructional, therapeutic, and behavioral programs. The preferred candidate will have prior experience working in a substantially separate classroom with students with complex medical, educational, and physical disabilities, and have the ability to physically work with the students (ex. Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.with proper supports). Essential Functions (Not prioritized)
  • Responsible for developing and providing direct instruction appropriate to the needs of each student using various teaching methods, strategies, materials and adaptive technology to support the classroom instruction for accomplishing the goals and objectives of students' IEPs.
  • Responsible to provide instruction in community settings, including but not limited to: swimming
  • Consult and work collaboratively with parents, teachers, administrators, therapists, medical professionals and other
IEP TEAM
members
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and evaluation of teaching assistants in coordination with the Program Director
  • Evaluate and assess students' skills and develop an IEP with the TEAM based upon results and experience
  • Take data, administer assessments and maintain records to evaluate students' progress (including MCAS Alternate Portfolios)
  • Assist the Program Director in the intake of a student referral
  • Maintain consistent attendance from the start of the day to the end of the day
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree
  • Current, valid MA DESE Certification in Severe Disabilities (all levels) Skill in:
  • Oral and written communication
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Differentiated Instruction
  • Developing data driven goals and objectives
  • Technology, Assistive Technology, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication An ability to:
  • Use discretion and independent judgment
  • Perform multiple tasks simultaneously despite interruptions
  • Maintain confidential student information
  • Deal tactfully and appropriately with administration and parents
