Teacher, Special Educator Position Summary:

Wayland Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Special Educator to join our team. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of our youngest learners. Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to): Create a welcoming, inclusive classroom that supports both learning and belonging Promote equity and respect for students' diverse backgrounds and needs Lead the IEP process, including meetings, evaluations, and writing compliant IEPs Monitor and report student progress regularly and accurately Deliver instruction and services aligned with students' IEP goals Provide specialized academic, organizational, and executive functioning support Use assessment data to adjust and differentiate instruction Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families to support student success Participate in professional learning and contribute to team and school initiatives Manage the classroom environment and supervise support staff to ensure a safe, effective program

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree required.

Experience:

Experience supporting students with diverse disabilities in public school settings, including academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and executive functioning needs

Cultural Competency:

Experience with diverse populations and a strong commitment to Wayland's goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Advanced Degree:

Master's degree in Special Education or related field preferred.

DESE Licensure:

Must hold valid Massachusetts licensure in: Special Education (appropriate grade level).

SEI Endorsement:

Evidence of Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement is mandatory.

2026-2027 School Year; school-year schedule in alignment with the WEA contract Unit A [
