Job Description

Inspire and support young learners as a Special Education Teacher in a self-contained elementary classroom near Centreville, MD and the surrounding area. This full-time contract opportunity begins August 17, 2026 and runs through June 18, 2027. With a consistent Monday through Friday schedule of 32 hours per week, your day will typically run from 7:30 AM to 3:45 PM, with some variation based on campus. Enjoy a 30-minute unpaid lunch and spend 7 dedicated hours each day making a difference. Lead and nurture a diverse group of elementary students needing specialized instruction, using evidence-based interventions such as Read 180, iSPIRE, Bridges Program, and Orton-Gillingham. Your role will adapt to the needs of your students, ensuring each child receives the best possible support. Full participation in IEP development—primarily held on Tuesdays—will be part of your duties.

Key Qualifications:

Valid Maryland Special Education Certification is required. Experience in self-contained elementary settings highly preferred. Familiarity with intervention programs such as Read 180, iSPIRE, Bridges Program, and Orton-Gillingham. Strong communication, collaboration, and adaptability skills. Commitment to individualized instruction and IEP implementation.

Primary Responsibilities:

Deliver direct instruction according to student IEPs, using various intervention programs as appropriate. Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to student goals. Monitor student progress, tracking data for academic and behavioral growth. Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families.
