Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity shaping the future of high school students as a Special Education Teacher for an Extended School Year (ESY) program. This role is perfect for passionate educators committed to advocating for diverse learners. With two openings available, you'll collaborate closely with a dedicated team and engage directly with students who rely on your expertise to thrive academically and socially. Your schedule will run Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, which allows an excellent work-life balance while making a difference each day. All instruction will be delivered in person, offering genuine connections with students and colleagues.
Desired Qualifications:
Current and valid ME teaching license in Special Education (required) Previous experience working with high school students is preferred Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to develop and adapt individualized instructional plans Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct special education instruction to high school students as part of the ESY program Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Collaborate with general education staff and related service providers Utilize a variety of instructional techniques to address student needs Track progress and maintain accurate student records Foster positive relationships with students, staff, and families This contract role offers a focused, part-time schedule and the opportunity to change lives during the summer session.
