Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract An exciting contract opportunity is available for skilled Special Education Teachers to support a high school caseload in an Extended School Year (ESY) program. This is an in-person position with two current openings, perfect for educators eager to make a difference this summer. Enjoy a focused schedule, working Monday through Thursday from 8:00am - 12:00pm, totaling four hours each day. As a member of the ESY team, you will help provide meaningful summer instruction and support to high school students, ensuring continuity of learning in a supportive, positive environment.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Maine Special Education (SPED) teaching license is required Previous experience working with high school students in special education settings is preferred Familiarity with IEPs and adaptive instruction Strong communication and collaboration skills Flexible and committed to student success
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, individualized instruction aligned with students' IEP goals Monitor student progress and complete required documentation Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and support staff to ensure comprehensive student services Maintain a safe and welcoming classroom for all learners Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs This is a rewarding chance to positively impact students and build valuable experience, all within a manageable summer program schedule.
