Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a highly rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a dynamic educational environment for the 2026/2027 school year. This position is designed for passionate professionals eager to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with visual impairments. Offering a part-time schedule of two days per week, this role provides flexibility and the option to expand hours if needed.
Qualifications and Experience Sought:
Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) Professional experience within school settings supporting K-12 students preferred Knowledge of braille, assistive technology, low vision devices, and adaptive strategies Comfortable collaborating with special education teams, teachers, and families Strong communication, organizational, and advocacy skills Commitment to fostering independence and promoting accessible learning
Role Responsibilities:
Conduct evaluations and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments Provide direct and consultative services to students, ensuring access to curriculum and promoting academic achievement Instruct students in the use of braille and a variety of assistive technologies Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to modify materials and environments for optimal accessibility Work closely with families and staff, delivering guidance and training around accommodations and adaptive strategies Regularly monitor student progress and document outcomes as required
