Cranbrook Kingswood Middle School seeks an enthusiastic and creative Middle School French Teacher with an innovative approach to language acquisition and skills development. This individual will play a vital role in our engaging and hands-on middle school world language French program, which cultivates curiosity and exploration of language and culture. This is a full-time position for up to two years for grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. About the World Language Spanish Program at

Our program offers a dynamic learning environment that extends beyond the classroom, leveraging Cranbrook's unique campus to create relevant, place-based learning experiences. We aim to inspire critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a lifelong love of language and culture through: Hands-on learning: Actively engaging students in language acquisition through interactive activities.

Integrating technology and practical applications to connect language learning to real-life situations.
Developmentally appropriate curriculum:
A three-year sequence encompassing an introductory French curriculum. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Teach five sections of middle school French, in a single-gendered classroom. Facilitate student learning by building strong interpersonal relationships, setting a positive tone, and creating a sense of belonging and community among the students. Serve as an advisor to a group of students, meeting daily and providing guidance and support. Advocating for students and nurturing their growth, assessing student progress, partnering with parents, taking part in grade-level activities to build relationships and community and foster empathy and leadership, including an overnight interim. Participate and collaborate in grade-level teams, content teams, faculty meetings, and school assemblies. Contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school by leading an after-school club, sport, or activity. Collaborate effectively with colleagues to create powerful learning experiences for a diverse student body. Demonstrate a commitment to work in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Engage in social emotional learning (SEL) initiatives.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in French or a related field is required. Master's Degree, teaching certificate, native French and/or multi-lingual speaker with teaching experience is preferred. Enthusiasm for teaching and working with adolescents is essential. Excellent communication skills are expected. Experience with athletics or other extracurricular programs is beneficial.
