Holly Area Schools The Position Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university. Special Education Certification is required with Cognitive Impairment Endorsement (SA). Experience in Special Education is preferred. Qualifications The qualified candidate will provide instruction and support to students who are eligible for special education services at the secondary level. The individual will provide direct instruction for middle school students, as well as, working collaboratively with general education teachers and IEP team members. The individual will assess individual student progress and communicate with parents with updated information. This individual will be responsible for developing IEP goals, chairing IEPT meetings, and advocating for students. Responsibilities Provide specially designed instruction to meet the needs of each individual student's goals and objectives outlined in his/her IEP. Maintain accurate and complete student records, and prepare reports on students' activities, abiding by timeliness, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations. Collaborate with personnel from varied disciplines, i.e. social workers, counselors, community colleges, business leaders, etc. Demonstrate knowledge of the essential elements standards for middle school students. Apply evidence-based resources to facilitate the prescribed curriculum. Utilize creativity and innovativeness with instructional strategies to assist special needs students with problem solving and higher order thinking skills. Accommodate and/or modify the general education curriculum for special needs students, based upon the variety of instructional techniques and technologies. Assist students in the assessment and evaluation measures required by the district and state. Develop, support, and monitor Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans in collaboration with IEP team members. Establish and maintain an effective and cooperative working relationship with all staff, students, and parents. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
