Job Description

Summary The Resource Room at JPS Hunt Elementary is designed to provide specialized support to students with diverse learning needs. This full-time position involves working closely with students, teachers, and parents to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and be committed to fostering student growth and success. Responsibilities Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students requiring additional support. Provide direct instruction and support to students in the Resource Room, focusing on academic skills, social skills, and emotional well-being. Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary to meet individual needs. Facilitate small group and one-on-one instruction to reinforce classroom learning and promote skill development. Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student achievements and challenges. Assist in the development and implementation of behavioral intervention plans as needed. Create a welcoming and organized Resource Room environment that promotes learning and engagement. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education. Collaborate with other support staff, such as counselors and therapists, to provide comprehensive support to students. Act as a liaison between parents, teachers, and administration to ensure effective communication and support for students. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid teaching certification in Special Education or related area. Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with IEPs. Strong understanding of instructional strategies and interventions for students with disabilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed. Familiarity with educational technology and resources to support diverse learners. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with special education trends and regulations.
