Job Description

POSITION TITLE
Early Childhood Special Education Teacher (
SY:
26-27)
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must hold a bachelor's degree, a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate and a special education endorsement focusing on Early Childhood (ZA, ZS or B-K bands)
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of typical and atypical child development to identify needs and develop interventions
  • Ability to conduct IEP meetings and complete IEP forms in conformance with the MI Special Education and MARSE and IDEA rules
  • Collect and utilize data for instructional planning and informed decision-making
  • Assess, plan, and implement individualized plans for each child
  • Experience with research-based developmental screening tools
  • Provide as needed, dressing, feeding, toileting, lifting, restraining and individualized care of children with disabilities.
  • Must possess the ability to work closely with students, staff, parents, and district colleagues
  • Understanding or, or demonstrated training in, PBIS and MTSS initiatives
  • Willing to be CPR/First Aid certified
  • Ability to handle complex and stressful issues or situations with sound judgement, common sense and a calm demeanor
