Job Description
POSITION TITLE
Early Childhood Special Education Teacher (SY:
26-27)QUALIFICATIONS
- Must hold a bachelor's degree, a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate and a special education endorsement focusing on Early Childhood (ZA, ZS or B-K bands)
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
- Knowledge of typical and atypical child development to identify needs and develop interventions
- Ability to conduct IEP meetings and complete IEP forms in conformance with the MI Special Education and MARSE and IDEA rules
- Collect and utilize data for instructional planning and informed decision-making
- Assess, plan, and implement individualized plans for each child
- Experience with research-based developmental screening tools
- Provide as needed, dressing, feeding, toileting, lifting, restraining and individualized care of children with disabilities.
- Must possess the ability to work closely with students, staff, parents, and district colleagues
- Understanding or, or demonstrated training in, PBIS and MTSS initiatives
- Willing to be CPR/First Aid certified
- Ability to handle complex and stressful issues or situations with sound judgement, common sense and a calm demeanor
