Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Valid Michigan Teaching certificate with Elementary School EndorsementK-5 / K-8
All Subjects. Major or minor in Specified Content Area (Minor must have passed the Specified Content Area MTTC Test). Experience with cooperative learning strategies. Experience with technology / multimedia approach teaching and learning. Experience with NWEA preferred. Experience using summative and formative assessments in instructional planning preferred. Experience in participating in PLCs preferred. Ability to work in a multicultural setting. Willingness to be actively involved in the school improvement process .Responsibilities :
Provide instruction and explain new ideas and unfamiliar concepts in a clear and concise way so that students can understand. Use effective strategies for Differentiation of Instruction. Adhere to curricular goals / objectives to support commonality between classroom instructions. Develop lesson plans that support CCSS and School Improvement Goals. Actively engage students in lessons and meaningful learning experiences planned around grade level expectations and enhance critical thinking skills. Administers various types of assessments to monitor student performance and adjust instruction. Enhances the instructional environment towards gains in student performance goals. Engaging with parents and ability to create healthy relationships with students. Communicate regularly and routinely with parents. Manage students, data on students, etc. Evaluation of students (report cards). Work collaboratively with staff. Collaborate with Romulus Community Schools' Grade Level colleagues to develop a comprehensive, collaborative and aligned education program. Manage equipment / inventory in the classroom. Other duties as may be related to assignment / position. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds in supplies which requires bending, stooping, lifting, and reaching. The employee must be able to use and operate a variety of office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including the use of a computer keyboard. The employee must use hands and arms to manipulate objects. The employee will have extensive verbal communication with administrators, staff, students, parents, & guests to communicate, to receive, and exchange information. The employee must use keyboards, tools, and other controls. The employee must sit and stand for prolonged periods of time. The employee must have normal vision and hearing with or without aid. The employee must be able to move about the assigned work location during the day.Work Environment :
