Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher, supporting students in a dynamic and inclusive school environment for the 2026/2027 academic year. You'll play a vital role in shaping young lives, offering instruction and guidance for students with unique needs while collaborating closely with families and educational teams. This position is designed for passionate educators dedicated to advocacy, individualized support, and student growth.
What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in education, with either an endorsement in Autism Spectrum Disorder or another area of special education (and willingness to pursue ASD endorsement). A valid Michigan Teacher Certificate. Strong capacity to manage and de-escalate aggressive behaviors, ensuring safety and emotional well-being. Effective conflict resolution skills, fostering a productive and supportive classroom. Flexibility to consider alternative qualifications as deemed appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored instruction for students with special needs, focusing on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development. Adapt lesson plans and assessments to suit individualized education programs (IEPs). Foster an inclusive, respectful classroom atmosphere where each student feels valued. Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and administrators to maximize student success. Engage in ongoing professional development and implement innovative instructional strategies. Communicate progress, challenges, and successes with families and colleagues.
