MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: 1. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. 2. A valid Michigan teaching certificate with full certification in the area of emotionally impaired (EI). 3. Experience in the teaching of this population is preferred. 4. Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.
RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO
1. Evaluate pupil's academic and affective skills with both standardized and self-constructed tests. 2. Plan curriculum for all assigned students, with assistance of other professional staff and administrator approval. 3. Analyze and chart behavioral and academic skills of students. 4. Establish instructional and behavioral objectives for students; update objectives periodically to see that skills are being acquired. Send progress reports home quarterly. 5. Provide individualized instruction as outlined by student's IEPs. 6. Establish techniques for behavioral discipline within the classroom in accordance with school and MISD Board Policies. 7. Provide supervision and direction to assigned paraprofessionals. 8. Participate in IEP and MET process as directed by administration. 9. Assist in identifying students' transition needs and goals, and coordinate with outside agencies when appropriate. 10. Other assignments as determined by future course of events. 11. Perform all other duties as appropriate and determined by principal or administrator.

SALARY :
Direct Service and Degree Specialist salary schedule of the MIFT Master Agreement. Starting salary range $58,675-103,859 credit given for prior experience .
