Qualifications:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate in Special Education
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team to plan instruction, analyze data, and implement interventions and enrichments for students
  • Must have the knowledge of theories of learning and child development appropriate for the classroom
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Establish a positive learning environment with highly effective instruction and appropriate routines and procedures meeting the needs of the students
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques to ensure student growth
  • Communicate student progress and concerns regularly with parents and colleagues
  • Develop and maintain classroom conducive to effective learning with appropriate routines and procedures
  • Work collaboratively within the department to implement best practices and meet students' academic needs
  • Develop and implement positive behavior support plans to help support individual student needs
  • Develop and conduct IEP meetings (revaluation, initial and annual)
  • Attendance is an essential job function
