WORK LOCATION
Whitmore Lake Elementary School 1077 Barker Rd. Whitmore Lake, MI 48189
WHAT WE NEED:
A hardworking, self-starter ready to be a positive contributor to our tight-knit Elementary School community. You will provide resource services and teacher consultation to support all students with IEPs in your assigned grade level(s). You get to work with staff, students, and parents to ensure appropriate programming for an exceptional, personalized, education. Caseload students will include children with autism, speech and language disorders, specific learning disabilities, hearing impairments, or other health impairments. Services will include time spent in the general education classrooms for inclusion and pull-out services (individual and small groups) . We are looking for someone who has: Ability to work with Kindergarten-2nd grade students in a cross-categorical Resource setting using a variety of push-in and pull-out services Experience working with students with speech and language impairments, learning disabilities, Autism, and Other Health Impairments Experience with consulting in a general education setting. Experience with and knowledge of behavior management principles as well as positive behavior interventions and supports. Experience with and knowledge of curriculum adaptations Experience with multisensory reading instruction Knowledge of the use of technology for communications and student instruction Demonstrated skills in parent consultation and working with diverse populations within the community. A philosophical position that is aligned with the WLPS mission of support in the least restrictive environment. A record of collaborative teamwork. Ability to administer and interpret results of disability-specific assessments. Ability to write lesson plans, IEPs, and other related correspondence. Ability to direct the activities of others to execute student IEP goals. Ability to work professionally, collaboratively, and effectively with children, their families, and staff. Ability to utilize district technology and work to maintain effective documentation. Complete other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED
Valid Michigan elementary teacher's certificate with special education endorsement (preference given to candidates with an SLD and ZA endorsement, three years of experience, and Teacher Consultant status.)
